PRESIDENTS REPORT 2013

Welcome to 2013, complements of the season to all and hope you had a great relaxing Christmas with friends and family.
During 2012 our club had another busy and successful year, thanks to our committee, members and helpers. A big thanks must go to our local papers the QT, Advertiser and Ipswich News and the wonderful people behind the scenes that help and support our club. Many thanks also to our City Councillors for there help and support, their support is playing a very large part in our five year plan in getting our club out and involved within our wider Ipswich Community. MANY THANKS TO ALL.
2013 will again be a busy and fun year for us all. We had our stand out at the Cameron Park market in January, however, due to the very hot day, it was a very poor turnout. Our Club, on the 18 October 2013, will be celebrating 40 years and is putting together a book on the clubs 40 year history.
This year we have 19 Club Fairs, 7 plus club visits to attend which goes north to Gladstone and south to Lismore. We also have the Queensland National and State Competition/Exhibit in September, a must for all clubs to attend, and/or help where possible. It will more than likely be a long time before Queenslanders will see another.

National competition.

This year I would like to see a concerted effort from all members to increase our membership both in the senior and junior clubs and the awareness that our club does exists in the wider community. All it takes is one OR MORE new members from each of our existing members or just talking about the club and your hobby.

HAPPY COLLECTING

Dave Roberts

JUNIORS NOTES

When I first started collecting stamps, I was only nine years old. I collected them for the pictures. Since I joined stamp club I’ve learnt a lot of other things about stamps.

Such as; the Penny Black was the first stamp and made in England, I’ve also learnt to never handle stamps with my fingers. (always use tweezers), I have learnt that there are different types of collections. Some people collect stamps from different countries and some people collect stamps with different themes, these are called thematic collections.
My favourite collection is my thematic collection of cats, but I also collect horses and flowers, My brother Branden and I also collect Australian Decimal stamps with help from my mum. I loved helping out at the stamp fair each year, its lots of fun. I like meeting people at stamp club and seeing what they collect. I enjoy being at stamp club and I hope other people do too.

Thanks to Lily Campbell for her insight into her stamp collecting

PRESIDENTS REPORT for the GENERAL MONTHLY

6th December 2012

2012 has been another busy year with another Annual Fair, and both have been great for our Club, and guess what? 2013 will be better than 2012 so all members and helpers try and get some rest over the Christmas break.

With our December meeting being the last meeting for 2012, I would like to thank our Committee and all members for their help and support in 2012,
especially with our Annual Fair. The Fair again was a great success and it was very rewarding for our club to see all members, clubs and others having such a relaxing fun time.

This year our Fair was opened by Cr. Bruce Casos, many thanks Bruce. I must thank our ladies who man the door, raffles and sales, they make the day run so smooth. Also Craig and Dave Woodward and auction helpers Colin and George. Many thanks to Craig Chappell for keeping the auction ticking over, what about the Juniors and Cubs as runners ,they did a magnificent job. Well done everyone, and thanks to the other clubs that helped. The Bargain Table went well with Eric McGrath and Ashley Owen keeping an eye on everything.

Again this year we have travelled all over with the club books and our book sales have increased in sales for members, lets hope that we can keep that happening.

I would like to thank all who have donated philatelic material to our club, it is very much appreciated.

Next year on the 18th October our Club will be 40 years younger and we hope to do a booklet on the history of the club, we will need members help so if interested please contact any committee member. Also the Queensland Stampshow 2013 on the 21-22 September, it would be good to be able to take interested members and Juniors to the exhibit.

To all the committee, members and all helpers I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year

HAPPY COLLECTING

David Roberts
